How to Learn to Aquire Knowledge

Description : Abd Al-Tawab Youssef begins the short story with a brief introduction about the vital role of teachers in society and the importance of honouring them. He also refuses to generalise the negative image of tough teachers. Some of the literary works that deal with the noble role of teachers are Goodbye Mr. Chips by James Hilton and Youssef’s biography of his father My Father: An Egyptian Teacher. The short story revolves around a father who exclaims that his son and his friend do not know how to use the encyclopedia and Arabic dictionary assuring that it is the role of the school to teach students how to use the Arabic dictionary since Arabic is their native language.
